Tropical Storm Irma formed August 30, 2017 over the far Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Currently, maximum sustained winds are near 50mph with some strengthening forecasted over the next 48 hours. It has been stated that Irma could become a hurricane by Friday, but at the moment there is no immediate threat to land.
