CSA Travel Protection Wins Travel Weekly Magellan Award

CSA Travel Protection (CSA) owned by Europ Assistance Group, a global leader in assistance and insurance products and services, today announced that it received a Travel Weekly Magellan Awards Silver in the Travel Agent Organizations, Overall Travel Insurance category for its ePartners online tool.

In early 2014, CSA Travel Protection launched a new online tool for many travel agent partners appropriately called ePartners, which allows them to easily manage travel insurance transactions. The ePartners platform gives agents the autonomy to modify their clients’ travel insurance plans as needed as well as run reports to ensure they’ve received the right commission for the policies they’ve sold and to monitor clients’ paid claims during designated time frames.

With entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the Magellan Award winners represent the best in the travel industry and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all.

The Magellan Awards is the premier awards program honoring a broad range of industry segments including Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Car Rental Companies.

“People who enter the Magellans know they’re competing against a very talented and very creative group of individuals and agencies,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor in chief of Travel Weekly. “The travel industry marketers and designers who walked away with Magellan awards this year pushed themselves to new heights. When you look at the winning entries, you understand why consumers have been inspired to travel in numbers never seen before.”

The Magellan Awards are judged and overseen by a one-of-a-kind panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders from the industry. In determining winners, entries do not compete with one another, instead they are judged against a standard of excellence based on the long experience of Travel Weekly. To uphold this high standard of excellence, a category may have multiple winners, or no winners at all.

Going to a Major Event Like Comic-Con? Here are Four Reasons Why You Should Consider Travel Insurance

Get your travel insurance quote from CSA

CSA Travel Protection is based in San Diego—a major tourism hot spot. Summertime brings tourists to the beaches, the Del Mar Races, Sea World, the zoo and other local destinations. With many visitors in the city already, it can get crowded quickly. However, nothing is quite like what’s coming up.

Comic-Con International: San Diego is “the country’s longest continuously-run comics and popular arts convention.” It’s happening in San Diego July 23-27th, bringing more than 100,000 people into a relatively small downtown area. With this many people descending on San Diego at once, there are bound to be some trip delays and cancellations. It’s important to consider safeguarding against some of these kinds of perils, especially if you’ve invested more on your trip than you can afford to lose. That’s where travel insurance can help.

If you’re still not convinced, here are four common misconceptions about travel insurance and reasons why it might be worth considering the investment. We chose our local Comic-Con as an example. However, these rules apply to anyone traveling this summer domestic or internationally.

  1.  “It’s a Waste of Money.
At 4-10% of the cost of the trip itself, it can be an inexpensive way to protect yourself from certain unexpected events out of your control that could cause you to lose much more. If you’re spending more than you can afford to lose on your vacation, then you should consider Trip Cancellation protection.
  2. My medical insurance will cover me on my trip.
A traveler’s primary medical insurance may not provide coverage outside of their network or service area, or may charge more for those services. Medicare is a common health insurance plan that has such limitations. And even if your insurance does provide out-of-network coverage, you’ll often have to shell out cash for emergency medical expenses and hope to be reimbursed later.
  3. My credit card will cover it.
Actually, maybe not. Credit card coverage can provide coverage for fewer instances than specialized travel insurance, and usually offers lower limits. In addition, the card coverage will most likely not cover anyone traveling with you.
  4. I’m not traveling overseas.
Accidents and delays can happen no matter where you’re traveling. If you’re investing in a lengthy or costly domestic vacation, it’s a small price to protect that investment.

Whether you’re traveling to San Diego for Comic-Con or to another major event, be sure to investigate if travel protection is for you. Safe travels!
